Varma Mitchell

Ms. Mitchell brings over 25 years of experience in the field of Human Resource Management. She was employed for over 15 years with Sun Oil Company as a HR generalist and progressed to the HR management of one of its facilities of over 1800 employees.  She brings 8 years of experience in the non-profit business sector working as an educator with the Delaware County Intermediate Unit and the Chester Education Foundation.

Varma Mitchell is founder and owner of Mitchell HR Consulting Associates in Wallingford, PA where she established a successful HR consulting practice providing services to large and mid-sized corporations in the Delaware Valley.  Prior to this business, she founded and operated Codelco Employment Agency a business that placed applicants into permanent, part-time and temporary jobs in the area.

Ms Mitchell is currently a Senior Business Consultant at the Temple SBDC where she provides guidance to small businesses in business plan development, marketing strategies, operations and human resources strategies.  She trains clients in entrepreneurial success skills and how to successfully market to the federal, state and local governments.

 For the past 15 years she has been an Adjunct Professor of Business at Delaware County Community College in Media, PA where she teaches business courses such as:

  • Marketing   >  Economics
  • Advertising Supervision
  • Human Resources Managememt  >  Organizational Behavior  
  • Business Communication Entrepreneurship
  • Business Law  > Computer Information Systems

In the past has served as an adjunct instructor in management at Cabrini College in Wayne, PA.

She has been a presenter at the annual workshops on Workplace Flexibility sponsored by the Department of Labor, Women’s division; the Latina Business Series and the National Contract Management Association (NCMA) conferences and various organizations’ meetings

Ms. Mitchell holds an M.B.A. degree and a Bachelor of Science degree in Management from Texas Southern University in Houston, TX and Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, NY. She has also done post-graduate studies at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX.

She volunteers with the YWCA of Chester and is a member of the Greater Valley Forge Human Resource organization, the NAACP of Media, PA., the Urban League of Philadelphia.
