Carol A. Hendrix
Carol A. Hendrix is the President and CEO of GIM Associates. GIM Associates
is a for-profit business consulting, counseling, and training firm conceived
in 1997 and established in 1998 to provide quality services to entrepreneurs,
small and micro businesses, non-profit and religious organizations. Prior to
starting her own firm, Ms. Hendrix was a Vice President for First Union National
Bank and Relationship Manager in the SBA Lending Department.
Carol has served as Executive Director for the West Philadelphia Financial Services Institution a CDFI established by the Empowerment Zone and was the debut Director for the Enterprise Growth Fund ‑ a SBA Microloan Demonstration Program operated by the Ben Franklin Technology Center of Southeastern Pennsylvania. Ms. Hendrix is also Adjunct Professor at several colleges in Philadelphia and is sought after for various speaking engagements on the subject of finance and banking.
A native Philadelphian, Carol received her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Temple University and a MBA from Eastern University. She has over 22 years experience in banking including nearly fifteen years in small business and church lending, micro-enterprise development, business training and business development.
Mrs. Hendrix is a member of the National Association of Female Executives, the current National Treasurer for the Urban Financial Services Coalition, Chairperson of the Agape Community Development Corporation, past president of the Urban Financial Services Coalition - Philadelphia formerly (known as the Urban Bankers Association of Greater Philadelphia), and past Board Member of the Association for Enterprise Opportunities, a national micro enterprise trade organization. In addition, she is Vice Chairman of the Trustee Board for the Greater Saint Matthew Baptist Church located in South Philadelphia, past Chairperson for the West Philadelphia Financial Services Institution Loan Committee, member of the Advisory and Loan Committee for the Women’s Opportunities Resource Center and finance committee member of the Philadelphia Baptist Association.
Mrs. Hendrix was honored as one of twenty‑five Women of Distinction (formerly Women to Watch) in 1996, recipient of the Mary McLeod Bethune Award from the National Council of Negro Women also in 1996, the SBA Minority Small Business Advocate of the Year Award in 2000 and the Association Award from the Urban Financial Services Coalition in 2002.
Mrs. Hendrix is an advocate for economically and socially disadvantaged small businesses with a particular affection for micro‑enterprise development. She works within the community to help educate small businesses and individuals interested in becoming entrepreneurs. Believing that knowledge is the key to poverty elimination and self-sufficiency, she conducts financial workshops to educate individuals in the importance of budgeting, saving and acquiring assets.
