Of the more than 5,000 institutions of higher education in the U.S., Temple is one of only 148 designated as Doctoral/Research Extensive by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching.

Established in 1884, Temple University is a comprehensive public research and teaching university with more than 29,000 students and over 200,000 alumni.

Temple has a distinguished faculty in 17 schools and colleges, including schools of Law, Medicine, Podiatric Medicine and Dentistry, as well as a world-renowned Health Sciences Center. Through its various schools and colleges, Temple offers academic programs in 8 associate degree areas, 109 bachelor degree areas, 108 master degree areas, 60 doctoral degree areas, and 6 first professional degree areas.

Temple maintains five regional campuses. It also maintains a campus in the state capital of Harrisburg, PA, and international campuses in Tokyo, Japan, and Rome, Italy.
