Prof. Iana B. Jucá Ph.D
Coordenadora do Curso de Ciências Atuariais Universidade Federal do Ceará
Risk, Insurance and Healthcare Management- 2006
At Fox, the Ph.D. in Business Administration courses are very research focused and the faculty is extremely accessible to students, which was a great incentive to begin doing research right in the beginning of the program. I felt I was in the right place.
Prof. Vikas Mittal Ph.D.
Jones Graduate School of Management, Rice University
Marketing- 1997
My experience at Temple was invaluable in preparing me for my career. The courses provided me a broad and historical overview of the marketing discipline, as opposed to a narrow slice of the discipline typical of many other doctoral programs. I also appreciated the nurturing environment and the ability to take important courses outside the business school.
Prof. Patrick Bernet Ph.D.
Florida Atlantic University
Risk, Insurance and Healthcare Management- 2004
Temple's course work on research methodology and statistics gave me the skills to perform research and prepare articles, including a recent award for "Best Quantitative Paper" (in a special issue of the Journal of Public Health Practice and Management). I enjoyed the professionalism and attentiveness to students displayed by my professors at Temple. Those teaching skills and attitudes have earned me an award for "Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching" (from Florida Atlantic University) and consistently outstanding student evaluations. Most importantly, Temple offers connections - professors, classmates and community. I have published papers with former professors and former classmates. I have gotten funded research through some of those contacts and gone on to get new grants on my own. And Temple's mission of service to the community has doubtless influenced the choice of one of my specialties - public health finance. It gives me a chance to use the business and research skills I received at Temple and apply them to real world health problems like epidemics, obesity and infant mortality.
Prof. John D’Arcy Ph.D.
Department of Management, University of Notre Dame
Management Information Systems- 2005
The Temple PhD in Business provided me with all of the tools necessary for a successful academic career. I had the opportunity to work hands-on with faculty experts in my field, while also gaining practical experience through involvement with industry-sponsored research projects. I am particularly thankful for the multi-method training I received, as this skill set has served me well in my research program, especially as I collaborate with faculty from around the world. I think the breadth of courses offered in the Temple PhD in Business – including both qualitative and quantitative research approaches – is a strength that sets the program apart from many others.
Prof. Denise Dunlap-Hinkler Ph.D

I can’t say enough good things about Temple University. Once you step foot on the campus, you can feel Temple’s vibrant and exciting culture. As a doctoral student, you feel that you are an integral part of something special and are encouraged to positively contribute to the school’s trajectory of innovation and rigorous academic achievement. The professors and administrative staff are dedicated to cultivating an environment filled with learning and scholarly expectations. Temple’s doctoral program continually fostered my curiosity and provided me with the opportunity to actively and closely work with inspiring and dedicated faculty that have proven research and teaching records. My cohort was tight-knit and the friendships that I fostered while in the program are life-long. The end product from my Temple experience is that I was exposed to a breadth and depth of conceptual and methodological skills, which have provided me with the foundation necessary to create practical and novel contributions to my specialized field of study. I am where I am today in my academic career because of the overwhelming support and encouragement that I received and continue to receive from my long-standing Temple relationships. Temple will always hold a special place in my heart and I am very proud to be a participant in its outstanding alumni network.
Prof. Robert J. Kwortnik Ph.D.
School of Hotel Administration- Cornell University
Marketing- 2003
The faculty at Temple are outstanding mentors for emerging scholars who aspire to teach at top-ranked institutions and to do high-level research. I entered the academic job market confident that I was well trained to tackle challenging research questions and to publish in the best journals— to succeed as a scholar. But perhaps more importantly, I knew that my professors at Temple “had my back” and would continue to guide, teach, push, and support me as my career progressed, and this has proven to be true. A Temple Ph.D. is about more than the strong curriculum and learning support—it’s about relationships.
