The Innovation and Entrepreneurship Institute

The Innovation and Entrepreneurship
Institute (IEI) is Temple's gateway to the entrepreneurial world.
IEI proactively promotes entrepreneurial spirit throughout all
17 schools and colleges of Temple University.
IEI’s programs are ranked in the top 10 most comprehensive entrepreneurship
programs in the nation by Entrepreneur magazine (October 2009) and as one of the
highest such ranked institutions in the Greater Philadelphia region. Also
recently, The Princeton Review & Entrepreneur Magazine ranked Temple 5th for undergraduate programs and 6th for graduate programs.
Because entrepreneurship is such a multi-disciplinary, opportunistic and
dynamic phenomenon, the IEI emphasizes integrated, applied, hands-on learning,
bringing together students, entrepreneurs, mentors, alumni, faculty, and
business advisors from diverse backgrounds to work on real-time projects.
As the largest research university in this region, IEI’s future
emphasis would be in science and technology.
Temple Small Business Development Center
The Temple SBDC offers a variety of services, including: consulting and coaching; hands-on training; market research; advertising and design; legal advice; government marketing; and a virtual business incubator.
Enterprise Management Consulting Program
The Enterprise Management Consulting Program (EMC) is an innovative, award-winning, and hands-on learning experience involving faculty, MBA students and mentors from the industry and the alumni of Temple University 's Fox School of Business and Management. EMC features capstone consulting practicum courses in which student teams help firm explore new business opportunities and integrate course work, business experience, and primary and secondary research into highly professional market entry strategies or business plans.
The student teams draw on an extensive network of highly experienced business mentors for expertise, technical support, research leads, business leads, and investment leads. Combined with the experience of the faculty, this network allows teams to consult effectively for a wide range of technology-based businesses, including (to date) biotechnology, medical technology, information technology, materials, process control, business services, and financial services firms. For more information about EMC services, contact T.L. Hill, Faculty Manager of the practicum.
