Honors Program
Message from the Director of Business Honors
I remember the first time I ever saw a computer. My grade school class took a trip to Fort Monmouth, New Jersey to see it. The computer took up most of a room the size of a high school gym and was run by a staff of technicians in white coats. We were awestruck by the power of this huge machine. Today, the typical PDA puts far more computing power than that computer had in the palm of your hand.
As computers have become smaller and more powerful, they have ceased to be scientific marvels and have increasingly become business necessities. The creation of the laptop was a crucial step in this evolution, as it allowed people to use information technology anytime and anywhere. Look around while riding the train, and you will see men and women writing reports, puzzling over spreadsheets, or checking their mail. Computers are, indeed, everywhere.
At the Fox School, we recognize that a business education is incomplete if it does not incorporate the latest information technology. That spirit has guided the creation of our Laptop Community. Whether they are using excel to work on accounting problems, checking the World Bank website in an economics class, or collaborating with classmates 25 miles away on a group project, Fox School Honors Students are learning skills that will prove invaluable when they enter the working world.
Sincerely,
Lynne Andersson
