Applications may be submitted online. Candidates may submit the required supporting credentials piecewise through the application process.
The following reference list is made available for all candidates. You may contact us directly with any questions about the process.
Official transcripts must be submitted (in English) directly to the IMBA admissions office by all universities previously attended. For international students whose transcripts are non-English, you may expedite this process by submitting original transcripts to a credential evaluating service. Two of these services are available through WES.org and ECE.org. International applicants whose school does not provide transcripts in English should use on of these services to process their transcript. Note that Temple University requires that applicants must have completed a four (4) year undergraduate degree or its equivalent for admission to graduate study. For additional information on international transcript requirements, please visit the Graduate School website.
All applicants must submit a $60 application fee. Checks must be made payable to Temple University, or candidates can make a payment through the online application system.
All applicants must have official GMAT scores submitted directly to the IMBA. Visit GMAC.com for more information on the GMAT test. Our average GMAT score has been approaching 650 for the past two admissions cycles. The middle 80th percentile of our admitted students typically fall between 590 and 710 (10% of admitted students are above 710 and 10% are below 590). Our school code for reporting scores:
- ETS Code: 2906
- Pearson VUE Code: 72S3T52
The university does not accept student reports of scores - reports must come directly from either ETS or Pearson.
All non-native speakers of English and graduates of non-English language universities must have a TOEFL score of at least 230 on the computer-based TOEFL (or a score of 600 on the original paper format). This, again, must be directly reported to the IMBA by ETS (1-800-257-9547), using the reporting code: 2752. TOEFL is not required if the applicant has an undergraduate degree from a U.S. university.
A minimum grade point average (gpa) of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale (or its equivalent) is normally preferred for consideration. Recognizing wide variations in grading patterns in different countries, we make every effort to fairly and accurately evaluate transcripts and course equivalents.
All applicants must have two references submitted. Official reference forms are provided through our application form or through the online form.
Candidates are interviewed (either by phone or in person) by the Director or by our partner school representative(s) prior to a final admission decision.
All of the above factors are taken into consideration in the admission process, as well as an attempt to get some reasonable geographic distribution of students among countries and continents. While there is no formal language requirement other than English, second and third languages among admitted students are certainly an advantage to anyone seeking a career in international business.
Formal work experience is not required, but experience is a factor that is considered by the admissions committee.
You can apply online. (If you choose to apply on line, you will need to use the generic Graduate School application form - please note that the January 15 deadline for applying that is listed on that form DOES NOT APPLY to the IMBA, which accepts applications through the Springtime.)
You can also request an application from the IMBA Program.
Admissions Interviews
When all credentials are received, candidates will be contacted regarding an admissions interview with the Director, which can be either in person or by phone. An admissions decision is typically made by the committee within two weeks' time, and candidates will be notified on a rolling basis through our admissions season.
