Entrepreneurship Across Temple:
New Interdisciplinary Certificate Program
Russell Conwell’s entrepreneurial spirit is alive and well among Temple students, with the rich variety of research and creative work undertaken in our labs and studios, and outside the classroom as well.
To support the growing number of students with entrepreneurial aspiration, and to provide alternatives to other students who may have not considered self-employment or launching a business, the Fox School and its partner schools and colleges around the University are introducing a new, 9-credit for-credit certificate program to supplement any Temple degree.
For most majors, at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, the sequence will be as follows:
* Introduction to Entrepreneurial Thinking: A course in the student's home school or college, which provides a broad overview of entrepreneurial thinking and the entrepreneurial process. Course work will feature case studies relevant to the students' discipline, as well as a special idea assessment project.
*Fundamentals of New and Small Business Management: Given by the Fox School of Business, this course provides the tools required for daily management of new and emerging enterprises. In a special section for non-business majors, students will learn about accounting, marketing, legal and human resources concerns, and other critical issues.
*Business Plan Development: A "capstone" course in which teams of students will develop business plans for feasible ventures. Students will be encouraged to compete in the annual Business Plan Competition.
