Joseph Beller, Esq.
Education & Practice:
Mr. Beller graduated from University of Pennsylvania Law School (LL.B.) and received his BA from Temple University College of Liberal Arts. He is admitted to practice in the State Court of Pennsylvania and the United States District Court for Eastern District.
Professional:
Mr. Beller is a senior partner of Beller, Stouffer & Orphanides with offices in Philadelphia, PA. He is an Adjunct Associate Professor at Drexel University in Philadelphia and has taught various courses, including real estate and business law. Mr. Beller has been a faculty member for the Pennsylvania Bar Institute for Continuing Legal Education for Attorneys. Mr. Beller concentrates his practice in the area of real estate and business law including land use, zoning and assessment law. He represented the Food Vendors Association and the Newsstand Operators Association of Philadelphia before the City Council of Philadelphia. He has represented, before the Zoning Board of Adjustment and the Courts of Pennsylvania, Nextel, Starbucks, 7-Eleven, Verizon, Patriot Parking, T-Mobile, Adidas America, as well as a variety of business including developers.
He has represented several thousands homeowners in the City and the suburbs before the various Boards of Assessment. Mr. Beller also represents Spring Garden Community Development Corporation and Tennis Fantasy, Inc. He has acted as a consultant on land use matters and has appear before Boards and Courts on behalf of Society Hill Civic Association, Mayfair Civic Association, Girard Estates Area Residents and the Spring Garden Civic Association.
Mr. Beller has been a guest speaker before senior citizens groups and SBA sponsored business advisors. His opinion has been solicited regularly by both print and broadcast media.
Joseph N. Bongiovanni, III
Education:
Mr. Bongiovanni received his J.D. from Temple University School of Law and his BA in Classical Languages and Philosophy from Haverford College.
Professional:
Mr. Bongiovanni’s bar admissions include: U.S. Supreme Court; US Tax Court; PA Supreme and all Pa. Inferior Courts; 3rd Circuit Court of Appeals; and Eastern District of Pennsylvania. He has also appeared in Federal Courts in New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Illinois and Florida.
In the past, Mr. Bongiovanni has been Chancellor, Secretary and Board member of Justinian Society; Chairman of Philadelphia Bar Association Small Business Committee; Member of Philadelphia Bar Association Bylaw Committee; and Philadelphia Bar Association Workmen Compensation Committee.
Currently, he is a panel member of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania Discipline Board. Mr. Bongiovanni pro bono work includes Judge Pro Tem Court of Common Pleas, Philadelphia County, Commerce Court.
Mr. Bongiovanni has served as Co-Editor of the 15-volume Legal Encyclopedia Pennsylvania Transaction Guide for over 16 years. In 1999, he Co-Authored a book for New York Times’ Pocket MBA Series Organizing a Company: 25 Keys to Choosing a Business Structure.
He has defended capital cases in trial and appellate courts of Pennsylvania. Mr. Bongiovanni has also litigated in Pennsylvania trial and Appellate Court cases involving First Amendment Rights. In addition, he has acted as co-counsel in the ABSCAM corruption cases and represented police officers in civil rights and criminal cases. Several years ago, he represented the hospitality industry in a constitutional challenge to Philadelphia’s 10% Across-the-Board tax. Mr. Bongiovanni also acted as a consultant to small businesses, including banks, developers, builders, architects and a research company.
Anthony S. Volpe
Education
Mr. Volpe received his J.D. from the University of Toledo College of Law and his B.S. in Textile Engineering from Philadelphia College of Textiles and Science. He is registered to practice before both the United States Patent and Trademark Office and the Canadian Patent Office. Mr. Volpe is a member of the bar of Pennsylvania and is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court, the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Federal, Third and Fourth Circuits, and the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
Professional Experience
Mr. Volpe has corporate and private practice experience in securing, licensing and enforcing all aspects of intellectual property rights. His practice is currently concentrated in interparty matters which include state and federal litigation in courts of both initial and appellate jurisdiction, appeals before the U.S.P.T.O. Board of Patent Appeals and Interferences, patent interferences, trademark oppositions, trademark cancellations, non-compete agreements, employment agreements, joint development agreements, unfair competition, trademark infringement and cybersquatting which applied both federal and common law.
Mr. Volpe has experience in foreign intellectual property matters, including litigations, administrative proceedings, and licensing of territorial and global rights. He also has experience in intellectual property due diligence reviews for domestic and foreign transactions. Mr. Volpe has been a presenter at intellectual property seminars for legal professionals, intellectual property owners and portfolio managers. Mr. Volpe's patent experience includes prosecution of patent applications, rendering of opinions regarding validity and enforceability and enforcement of patent rights concerning mechanical and electromechanical arts, optical identification systems, dimensioning systems, labeling equipment, fiber optic arrays, electrical connectors, circuit board structures and housings, CATV signal taps, batteries, papermakers fabrics and equipment, games, toys, drug delivery systems, material handling equipment, motor vehicles, lift and recline chairs, personal mobility devices, prefabricated wall structures, medical equipment, fluid containment structures, container lids, distribution systems, hand tools, molding equipment, personal care items and fire safety equipment.
