Temple and IEI Mourn the Loss of Entrepreneurship Professor Chris Pavlides
Constantine "Chris" Pavlides, an associate professor in the Fox School of Business at Temple University and founder of the Greater Philadelphia Senior Executive Group, died November 17 in a single-car crash. He was 62.
Mr. Pavlides, a member of Fox School's Entrepreneurship program in the Strategic Management department, had served as executive director of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Institute (IEI). He also introduced Mid-Atlantic Diamond Ventures, a science and high-technology business cultivator, to the entrepreneurial portfolio of programs in the Fox School at Temple.
During his tenure at the IEI, from 2004 to 2008, Mr. Pavlides elevated the program into the top 10 in the nation.
Fox School of Business Among Top Ten in the Nation for Entrepreneurship
(September 22, 2009) From more than 2,300 schools surveyed by Entrepreneur magazine and The Princeton Review, Temple University’s Fox School of Business was recognized as having some of the best entrepreneurship programs in the country. The Fox School ranked fifth in the nation for undergraduate entrepreneurship programs and sixth in the graduate entrepreneurship survey.
Since Entrepreneur magazine started its ranking surveys seven years ago, Temple’s Fox School of Business has placed among the top schools in the country each year.
“Venture creation is absolutely essential to the health and strength of our economy, especially in these challenging times,” said Jaine Lucas, executive director of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Institute and Mid-Atlantic Diamond Ventures at the Fox School. “In our programs, the academic and applied components work in tandem to give students an accurate picture of entrepreneurship, and to equip them with the skills to maximize their opportunity for a successful – and sustainable – enterprise.
Temple’s entrepreneurship program includes interdisciplinary educational opportunities, internships with new and growing ventures, intense mentoring and coaching, annual idea generation and business plan competitions, workshops and seminars, community outreach, and annual conferences in social, global, women’s and industry-specific entrepreneurship.
