Fox School of Business

MBA Essentials (Pre-term Program)

The Fox MBA starts with a required four-week pre-term program that provides a sound quantitative foundation for the pending coursework in addition to extensive training in leadership, team building, business communications and the case method of learning. Students also begin the process of defining career goals and create an action plan to endure successful professional opportunities upon graduation. Finally, social activities complement the rigorous schedule and allow students to build bonds with classmates that will serve as both a personal and professional network in the future.

Core Curriculum

Our sequentially designed curriculum facilitates the development of courses that require progressively greater depth of analysis and more sophisticated problem-solving skills.  We have designed a curriculum that builds on content learned in earlier courses to meet these objectives.  In addition, we are offering increased exposure to Global Business, Ethics, and Risk Management Issues.

Cohort Structure

The cohort structure of the Fox MBA Program allows the faculty to better coordinate content and course deliver, thus allowing for greater integration and coordination of courses within and across semesters.

Customized Concentration Courses

Students have the opportunity to customize their coursework with electives to create a program that best meets their career needs. You register for 5 elective courses over your two years in school.  Taking 3 electives in the same subject qualifies you to have a concentration in that subject.

Speaker Series

The integrated professional development series is required for all full-time MBA students. This program will cover a variety of topics including career management, corporate panels and top-level speakers to expose students to real-world application of the concepts learned throughout the MBA program.

Enterprise Management Consulting Experience (EMC)

The EMC Practicum is an innovative hands-on learning experience involving faculty and students.  During their practicum, cross-cultural student teams will assist firms or divisions on a live consulting project.  MBA student teams will integrate course work, business experience, and primary and secondary research into highly professional market entry strategies or business plans.

Required Summer Internship

In order to better prepare students for the post MBA job market, a non-credit summer internship is a required component of the program.  This added employment experience will provide students with real-world experience in their selected area of interest, create the opportunity to extend professional networks and ultimately better position full-time MBA candidates in their job search.  Exceptions with replacement coursework will be handled on a case-by-case basis for students prohibited from participating due to Visa restrictions or other extenuating circumstances.
