PHILADELPHIA (Sept. 22, 2009) – From more than 2,300 schools surveyed by Entrepreneur magazine and The Princeton Review, Temple University’s Fox School of Business was recognized as having some of the best entrepreneurship programs in the country. The Fox School ranked No. 5 in the nation for undergraduate entrepreneurship programs and No. 6 in the graduate entrepreneurship survey.

Since Entrepreneur magazine started its ranking surveys seven years ago, Temple’s Fox School of Business has placed among the top schools in the country each year.

“Venture creation is absolutely essential to the health and strength of our economy, especially in these challenging times,” said Jaine Lucas, executive director of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Institute and Mid-Atlantic Diamond Ventures at the Fox School. “In our programs, the academic and applied components work in tandem to give students an accurate picture of entrepreneurship and to equip them with the skills to maximize their opportunity for a successful – and sustainable – enterprise.”

Temple’s entrepreneurship program includes interdisciplinary educational opportunities, internships with new and growing ventures, intense mentoring and coaching, annual idea generation and business plan competitions, workshops and seminars, community outreach, and annual conferences in social, global, women’s and industry-specific entrepreneurship.

“It’s rewarding to see our entrepreneurship programs recognized nationally in the company of prestigious schools,” said Fox Dean M. Moshe Porat. “Entrepreneurial thinking is a cornerstone of Temple, and our programs continue to expand and strengthen each year in both the academic and the applied sectors. Our mission is for students to think and act like entrepreneurs no matter where their career paths take them.”

Temple offers an entrepreneurship major in its Fox School, as well as an entrepreneurship minor. At the undergraduate level, certificate programs in non-business disciplines have been successfully launched at the College of Engineering, College of Science and Technology, College of Health Professions, Tyler School of Art, School of Social Administration and the School of Tourism and Hospitality Management. There are two certificate programs at the graduate level.

“Innovation is a critical part of the philosophy of undergraduate programs at Fox, and having one of the top entrepreneurship programs in the nation enhances the experience for all of our students,” said David Kaiser, director of Undergraduate Enrollment Management.

“Being ranked among the top 10 MBA programs in the country really speaks to the sustained quality of our program, the students we attract, and graduates who represent Fox in the global community,” said Jason B. Bozzone, director of full-time MBA and MS programs. “Our program is enriched immeasurably by the fact that our students come from all over the world to the Fox MBA and are challenged constantly to apply their knowledge in practical situations through our curricular and co-curricular programs.”

The seventh annual ranking shows the nation’s top 25 undergraduate and top 25 graduate programs for entrepreneurship. The Fox School’s ranking can be seen at www.entrepreneur.com/topcolleges.

The Fox School was evaluated based on key criteria in the areas of academics and requirements, students and faculty, and outside-the-classroom experiences.

Established in 1918, Temple University’s Fox School of Business has a distinguished tradition of preparing business leaders, professionals and entrepreneurs for successful careers. It is the largest, most comprehensive business school in the greater Philadelphia region, and among the largest in the world, with nearly 6,500 students, 155 full-time faculty and more than 52,000 alumni.
