About The EMC

Welcome to the Enterprise Management Consulting Practice!

The EMC provides a unique opportunity for MBA students, faculty and senior executives to work together to learn more about effective management while serving the larger community.

At the Fox School, we believe that the most effective management education is thoroughly engaged in helping business and community leaders solve their most critical strategic challenges. The Fox School’s Enterprise Management Consulting Practice (EMC) provides structured opportunities for top managers, faculty and business students to work and learn together by combining management theory and practice to tackle the most pressing strategic problems faced by organizations throughout the world.

The EMC distinguishes the Fox School as one of a handful of business schools able to demonstrate the management and leadership skills of its graduates. Through EMC courses and internships, students deepen the understanding, sharpen the skills and practice the judgment necessary to devise fundamentally ethical business practices that meet the tri-fold challenge of globalization, technological change, and entrepreneurship.

The Fox School’s EMC contributes to business, economic and social development by combining faculty and business leader expertise with MBA student skills, effort and creativity to provide high-quality, research-driven strategic support to some of the most innovative and influential start-ups, corporations and nonprofit organizations in the region and across the world.  Along the way, the EMC offers top managers and faculty unique, practical opportunities as advisors and mentors to support the development of the next generation of business and community leaders.

In particular, EMC serves client organizations, MBA students and business leader mentors through three programs:

  • Capstone Consulting Practicums-  These practical, service-oriented courses integrate and complete students’ MBA programs by providing carefully supervised and first-class strategic consulting to start-ups, nonprofits and large corporations.
  • Implementation Internships-  Since the most brilliant strategies are only as effective as their execution, the EMC provides access to carefully selected and coached interns to assist in the development and implementation of firm strategies while testing the fit for full-time positions.
  • Master Consulting & Research Support-  For especially sensitive and challenging strategic projects, the EMC matches faculty and faculty-student teams with top management teams.

While able to draw from the Fox School’s extensive networks and faculty to manage a wide variety of strategic challenges, the EMC has developed three areas of special expertise:

  • Global Entreprepreneurship in Technology.
  • Strategic Renewal.
  • Social Enterprise.

Finally, in conjunction with the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Institute, the EMC sponsors three forums for sharing what our student-faculty-professional teams are learning about effective strategic management:

  • The Temple University Business Opportunity Showcase.
  • The Social Enterprise Conference.
  • The Enterprise Management Consulting Practice Newsletter and Website.

On behalf of the entire practice of students, faculty and business leaders, I welcome you to the EMC and look forward to working with you to learn about and solve pressing strategic problems for some of the most exciting organizations in the world.
