Ram Gopalan (Ph.D., 1992, M.I.T) has served as a management consultant to clients in the automotive, banking, insurance and government sectors. Dr. Gopalan's research focuses on logistics, supply chain management and customer relationship management. Since 1990, his papers on Transportation Modeling and CRM have appeared in Operations Research, Annals of Operations Research, Transportation Research – (Logistics), the Journal of Database Marketing and Customer Strategy Management, Journal of the Operational Research Society, Computers & OR and many other academic journals. He teaches courses at both the undergraduate and MBA levels on management science, marketing and new product development. In 1999, his article on data mining for sales force management appeared in Intelligent Enterprise and in 2006, his work on customer satisfaction with urban public systems was quoted in the Indian Express and the Hindu. He has also chaired two meetings of AGIFORS, the airline federation of operational research societies and taught in the MBA program at the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras.
