Dr. Rob B. Drennan Jr.

R.B. Drennan is an associate professor of Risk Management and Insurance and Chairman of the Department of Risk, Insurance and Healthcare Management at in the Fox School of Business and Management at Temple University. Dr. Drennan received his B.S. degree in economics, mathematics and biology from Southern Methodist University and A.M. and Ph.D. degrees in insurance and risk management from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

Dr. Drennan conducts research on health maintenance organizations (HMOs) and has published articles in the Journal of Insurance Regulation, CPCU Journal, Benefits Quarterly and The Journal of Insurance Issues. He has done consulting work for the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans and the American Society of Health Care Risk Management (ASHRM). He has also been involved in Executive Education and Training for Samsung Insurance and CIGNA in connection with the Chinese Insurance Regulatory Commission (CIRC). Dr. Drennan teaches review courses for the Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) examinations at the Wharton School and has fifteen years of teaching experience for adults in exam preparation.

Dr. Drennan has received one award for outstanding faculty service and four teaching awards at Temple. In April 2003, he received one of three university-wide Great Teacher Awards from Temple University. His teaching interests include employee benefits and risk management. Dr. Drennan is also Faculty Advisor for the Sigma Chapter of Gamma Iota Sigma, a student professional organization for students interested in risk management and insurance. He also serves as Director of Placement and Internship Programs for the Department. He has been on the faculty at Temple since 1988. Prior to that, he served as a lecturer in risk management and insurance at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
