Undergraduate Programs
Finance Program
Finance majors typically have one of four career objectives: (1) a position in the finance department of a business firm; (2) a position in a financial institution, such as a commercial bank, investment bank, or mutual fund; (3) a career in the area of financial investments; and (4) a position with a government or non-profit organization. The courses offered by the department are structured to enable a student to attain one of these career objectives.
A new curriculum structure will be implemented in the Fall of 2010, with the cornerstone being a two semester sequence of FIN 3502—Financial Markets and FIN 3503-- Corporate Finance. These two courses replace FIN 3011 and FIN 3101 as required courses for Finance majors and are also requirements for all upper level Finance courses. The Financial Markets course (FIN 3502) addresses the fundamentals of financial markets and pricing of financial assets, while Corporate Finance (FIN 3503) builds on these skills and provides an in-depth analysis of the principles of financial management and their application to decision making in a business firm.
See the Undergraduate Bulletin for descriptions of undergraduate finance courses.
Real Estate Program
The real estate major is designed to provide an educational foundation for students interested in pursuing a career in the business of real estate including real estate investment and financial analysis, corporate real estate and real estate brokerage.
Real Estate majors will follow the new curriculum as outlined above for the finance program.
