Howard J. Weiss, PhD

Professor, Management Science and Operations Management

Howard J.Weiss has been on the faculty at Temple University since 1976 and has served as the academic director of the Executive MBA (EMBA) program since July 2000.

During his time at The Fox School, Dr.Weiss has displayed commitment to the academic oversight of the EMBA program as well as to the professional development of EMBA students, and to the academic advancement of The Fox School. He has served on and/or chaired every major committee in the school, including The Fox School's Computer and Information Technology Committee, and both its Undergraduate and Masters Program Committees. He also served on the Philadelphia Chapter of the Operations Research Society of America (ORSA) and on the national committees of the Institute for Operations Research and Management Science (INFORMS).

His research has appeared in several prestigious journals, including Management Science, Operations Research, Naval Research Logistics and Interfaces. Dr.Weiss has also co-authored two textbooks, Introduction to Mathematical Programming and Operations Management, and developed several educational software packages, including POM-QM for Windows, Excel OM/QM, and Finite Math for Windows.

Dr.Weiss served as an associate editor for Naval Research Logistics and Computers and Operations Research, and was the deputy editor of Interfaces.

Dr.Weiss received his undergraduate degree from Washington University in St. Louis and received his MS and PhD degrees from Northwestern University.

Because of his willingness to serve and his commitment to excellence for The Fox School, Dr.Weiss is and continues to be a stellar example of leadership in the faculty community.
