Manuel MenendezRecruited by Mayor Jeremy Harris to join the city and county of Honolulu, Manuel Manny Menendez was appointed executive director of the Office of Economic Development two years ago.

Since joining the Mayor's Cabinet of the Office of Economic Development (OED), Menendez has been very active in helping Hawaii's business community especially as a business advocate, providing advice and a significant network of contacts that help the city's business community.

Before joining the Mayor's Cabinet team, Menendez was chairman and CEO of a company that specialized in business development, international trade, strategic marketing and planning, investments, mergers, acquisitions and divestitures and was a consultant to Fortune 500 companies.

He has also been very involved in charity and humanitarian endeavors including helping deliver medical supplies with AmeriCares to Kobe during its recent earthquake, China during its floods, and North Korea and Vietnam. Other lead roles include being a special advisor to the United Nations World Health Organization and former advisor to UNEP.

He is a member of the Board of Trustees of Mid Pacific Institute; one of the founding board members of the Hawaii EcoTourism Association; co-founder of the professional Soccer team, the Hawaii Tsunami; and board member of the Pacific War Memorial Association and the Honolulu Executives Association; a founding Board Member of the Hong Kong China Hawaii Chamber of Commerce and Hong Kong-Hawaii Chamber of Commerce.
