John Bizjak
John Bizjak is a visiting academic scholar at the Securities and Exchange Commission. He is on leave from Portland State University where he holds the Cameron Professorship in Finance. He has an Economics B.A. from the University of California at Berkeley and a Finance Ph.D. from the University of Utah.
His research examines issues of compensation policies, ownership and board structure, shareholder activism, managerial labor markets, and the political and economic consequences of regulation. His more current research examines the use of derivative securities by corporate insiders, how compensation policies are determined, and the value and incentives of employee stock options.
He has published his research in The American Economic Review, Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, Journal of Accounting and Economics, Journal of Banking and Finance and Financial Management. In addition, his work has been cited and discussed in The Wall Street Journal, The Economist, Business Week, Barron’s, Smart Money, and Derivative Strategy.
