Community Projects & Organizations
Below are some of the organizations our students, faculty and staff work with in the region.
Ronald McDonald House
The Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House provides a much-needed home away from home for families whose children are receiving medical treatment for serious illness. The organization provides the comfort, care, food, necessities, and support families need to help get them through such stressful times.
Philly Cares Day
Greater Philadelphia Cares supports the creation of vibrant communities by motivating people to volunteer their time, talents, and resources. The organization provides a clear path to service for all, enhancing the impact of non-profit agencies throughout the Greater Philadelphia region.
American Cancer Society Relay for Life
Relay For Life is the American Cancer Society’s signature activity. It offers everyone in a community an opportunity to participate in the fight against cancer. Teams of people camp out at a local high school, park, or fairground and take turns walking or running around a track or path. Each team is asked to have a representative on the track at all times during the event. Relays are an overnight event, up to 24 hours in length. Teams of people from all walks of life have fun while raising much-needed funds to fight cancer and raise awareness of cancer prevention and treatment.
Philabundance
Philabundance was founded as a nonprofit food distribution system in 1984, to reduce food waste and fight hunger in the Delaware Valley. In 2005, Philabundance integrated with the Philadelphia Food Bank to become the region's largest nonprofit hunger relief organization. Today, Philabundance offers a full plate of services to Delaware Valley residents at risk of chronic hunger and malnutrition.

The organization assists chronically homeless and low-income persons to break the cycle of homelessness and poverty by providing supportive housing, employment, education, healthcare, neighborhood-based community revitalization and affordable housing development. Co-founded in 1989 by Sister Mary Scullion and Joan Dawson McConnon, Project H.O.M.E.’s programs rebuild and promote dignity in the context of a strong and caring community.
