Ways to Make Your Resume Competitive

Thursday, October 16th, 2008

Is anyone else struggling for an internship opportunity? I have recently been scouring the region looking doing research on law offices that are in search of an intern for the summer. Although it may be too early for the summertime, it is never too soon to secure some position and paycheck, in today’s economy. However, I highly recommend that everyone who is looking for a full-time job, check out <www.bls.gov > for industry growth, and job title earnings. It is recommended that you do research on your industry prior to any job, and this advice should be practiced for intern applicants as well. Likewise, interns are often offered positions that may not pay, or only reimburse for travel. Depending on the position, it may be worth taking such a position because experience is always a bonus on any resume. Also, you may miss out on the opportunity to get your foot-in-the-door, if you pass up a good offer. Also if you are looking for ways to fill your resume, the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Institute at Temple, can offer a wide array of workshops that you may want to seriously consider. The Calendar can be found at <http://sbm.temple.edu/iei/calendar.html>. The IEI center is a valuable tool not only for people looking to be their own bosses, but also for people that are seeking employment. The workshops are extremely valuable and may be able to reinforce ideas that you may need some sharpening up on.
