Congratulations to the MAY 2008 Fox School of Business Graduates!!!
…And to the rest of the students who WISH they were graduating…a BIG congrats to you too for making it one step closer to that big day! Some good news on the job front…Yahoo Education has just published this article on 8 Sure-Fire Hires: Degrees that Could Make Your Career Search A Snap. Despite the article’s long title and the current economy….the article offers a lot of great news on the job market for many of our Fox School majors including Finance, Accounting, MIS, and Marketing.
Please enjoy the summer but keep in mind that this is a perfect time for you to be doing some work on your professional development. Read a book on leadership (always great reading for the beach!), join a networking organization, spend a few hours a week gaining great experience on an internship, or work on a career competency. There are so many small things that a student or recent graduate can do that will really open up the doors in regards to the job search. Also, remember to keep looking on FoxNet regularly because employers are still posting positions for recent graduates and summer interns. Have a great summer!
Jena joined the CSPD as the Assistant Director of Recruitment and Professional Development with over 4 years career services experience including a background in corporate recruiting. She is excited to work collaboratively with the Fox School students regarding career search strategies and hopes students gain some additional insight into the job search through “Opportunity Knocks”.
The token recent grad, I just finished in May 2008 with a BBA in Marketing and International Business. I worked hard and was way more involved than my schedule should've permitted, but I made it through and it paid off. I'm now taking on a consulting position with a large multi-national firm here in Philadelphia. I'm going to be blogging about what I did to get here, life now that I'm here, and what I'm trying to get out of the so-called real world.
I'm graduating in 2010, majoring in entrepreneurship, though by no means am I waiting till then to start my own business. Through this blog I'm hoping to let students see how easy it is to get a job, and looking forward to having more Temple students join me in the next wave of Philly Entrepreneurs!
I plan on graduating in January 2009 with a degree in marketing. I am the definition of a music junkie. Maybe you and I will discover what I want to do after graduation (and the rest of my life) on this blog. Kind of scary if you think about it, but I'm hopeful. =)

Employers are still looking for summer interns? I thought I missed the boat! I remember hearing there was a “good” way to search for jobs on FoxNet…can you tell me how to do that? Thanks!

Glad you asked! Employers are definitely still looking for summer interns. We still have a number of them posted on FoxNet, but there are other great resources to use when looking for a summer internship. Check out some of the sites listed on CSPD’s blackboard oragnizations page. Remember a summer internship can lead into a fall internship which can lead to a full time job offer!
There is a “good” way to search for jobs on FoxNet and that is through the 1 click searches menu, jobs with upcoming application deadlines. This will allow you to see all the jobs that are available, listed by when they will expire. Most of our jobs are only listed for a week maybe two, so it is important to search this way so you don’t miss out on any opportunities. Remember to keep all the search fields blank so you can search through each job, regardless of title, to see if it would be a good fit for your interests and strengths.
