Alter Technology Wins ProAV Award

A national trade magazine for AV professionals has named Temple University’s Alter Hall a Spotlight Award Winner in the “Best Education AV Project” category. According to magazine editors, “What were the most competitive categories? Judges saw so many great entries for Best Education AV Project that they named two: Temple’s Alter Hall and the University of Nevada Reno’s Mathewson-IGT Knowledge Center.”

Broadcasting live in prime time from the celebration of the opening of Alter Hall, the “brand new, state-of-the-art” home of Temple’s Fox School of Business, CNBC’s Tyler Matheson interviewed Temple President Ann Weaver Hart and Fox Dean M. Moshe Porat. Dean Porat addressed how Fox prepares students for careers during a recession. “We try to prepare them to be their own bosses — to be entrepreneurs — more and more,” he said. President Hart highlighted the importance of Temple’s role in economic hard times. “It’s part of our core mission to provide access to an excellent education for people who are prepared but don’t have $50,000 a year to spend,” she said.

Longest Elliptical Ticker in the US
Wednesday, January 14th, 2009Yesterday Rise Vision Inc. installed a ticker tape display around the underdraduate student commons. The ticker is the latest dramatic addition to Alter Hall and can be seen clearly from the street and from multiple points on the first floor, lower level, and Capital Markets Room. In addition to displaying up-to-date stock quotes, the 8-color LED ticker provides headline news and Fox-specific information and announcements.
