Scale Model of Alter Hall
Monday, April 27th, 2009Did you know there is a scale model of Alter Hall on the 3rd floor immediately outside the Dean’s Suite? It is built on a 3/16″ = 1′0″ architectural scale and shows colors, textures, materials, and other architectural details. The model was built byFrank Whittock Associates in Bensalem, PA.
Entrance Completed
Sunday, April 19th, 2009It’s taken quite a while, and its kept us from using a “final” Alter Hall shot in our literature, but the Alter Hall, Fox School of Business signage at the entrance on Liacouras Wall was completed Friday, just in time for the grand opening Monday, April 20.
More Signs
Wednesday, April 8th, 2009

Late this afternoon ALTER HALL was installed around the “drum” which surrounds the 280 seat auditorium that casts a red glow at night. I also thought it would be interesting to capture the main entrance ALTER HALL sign at night. This flurry of work inside and out is in preparation for the Opening Celebration, April 20.
Alter Sign Installed
Monday, April 6th, 2009
Finally, the main entryway sign marking our new building as ALTER HALL has been installed. All that remains is the designation of the FOX SCHOOL OF BUSINESS on the beam immediately below ALTER HALL.
Boardroom
Thursday, April 2nd, 2009
Here’s a room I may not have spotlighted before. It is the Frederic Fox Executive Boardroom, which seats 28+ persons and is equipped with electric shades, an 83″ plasma screen, built-in audio and video conferencing, and like every other room in Alter Hall, it is “smart”.
Paneling Nearly Complete
Tuesday, March 31st, 2009Full height paneling is installed on the southside wall of Alter atrium. Work will be completed by the end of the week. Last week carpenters added wainscot on atrium levels two and three.
Cornerstone Sign
Friday, March 20th, 2009Signage identifying Alter Hall is making its way around the building from east to west. The “bench” on 13th Street was the first, now we have added an engraved and silver-leafed Alter Hall 2008 on the corner of Montgomery Avenue and 13th Street.
In the next month, signs will appear around the red “drum” surrounding the auditorium and over the main entrance on Liacouras Walk.
1st of the Alter Hall Signs
Wednesday, March 4th, 2009Last week the first of four signs that will idenify Alter Hall was completed on the 13th and Montgomery side of the building. Here you see a student walking from the “Alter” end of the sign to the “Business” end of what has been described as a “bench,” with the letters forming the back of the bench. The sign reads ALTER HALL FOX SCHOOL OF BUSINESS. In spring grass will be planted between the bench and the building.
Finishing Touches
Monday, February 16th, 2009Over the weekend, wood modesty panels were added to student and instructor work stations in the Capital Markets Room, giving the room a more finished look than it had when wires, cables, and power cords were exposed when it opened last week.
LED Lighting in Atrium
Friday, February 13th, 2009Three strings of LED lights, a gift from LDC Lighting, Inc., allows us to activate 13 “scenes” that change colors, patterns and duration. The lights are positioned behind two lateral support beams between Alter Hall and what was once the south wall of Speakman Hall.
