Last week the first of four signs that will idenify Alter Hall was completed on the 13th and Montgomery side of the building.  Here you see a student walking from the “Alter” end of the sign to the “Business” end of what has been described as a “bench,” with the letters forming the back of the bench. The sign reads ALTER HALL FOX SCHOOL OF BUSINESS. In spring grass will be planted between the bench and the building.

Does anyone know what font that is?

  2. John DeAngelo Says:

    Arial Black

  3. Ryan Says:

So why was the logo made in such an ugly neo-grotesque sans serif font? There are literally thousands of them to choose from, such as Myriad Pro, Avenir, Frutiger, Gill Sans, and others.

  4. John DeAngelo Says:

    Ryan,

As they say … beauty is on the eye of the beholder. Generally speaking sans serif type faces are easier to read, and therefore better suited to quick-read situations. Also, the architects must have thought the direct, business like look of arial was better suited to their design.

  5. Kevin Klein Says:

I think the new sign is ghetto fabulous, I bet this was the designers intention.
