Communicating Stairs
( Permalink )One of the most important concepts for Dean Moshe Porat as the building rose, floors multiplied and, department homes were allocated, was to find a way to keep faculty in touch. He found a solution in a communicating interior stairway that joined departments on the 3rd through 6th floors. The idea was to provide a physical, line-of-sight connection for faculty from floor to floor. For the first time you can see how someoneone, say on the 4th floor, can spot a collegue on the 5th floor above or the 3rd floor below.
