Sam, what you are smelling is terrazzo epoxy and/or paint being applied in Alter just beyong that temporary green wall on the south side of Jazzman's. Actually there are two different smells associate with terrazzo installation; the wet epoxy and the smell of the dried terrazzo being ground. That's the one I hate the most. But take heart ... terrazzo installation is nearing an end ... proably sometime around October 18.

I visited the cafe and the smell of paint still resides. A nice area to relax and study. Hopefully that smell subsides soon.

It looks updated and modernized, much different than before. Not many students like to lounge there. I like to go there because nobody is around.

John,

It all sounds amazing. Thank you for addressing my concerns, particularly my ailing back. Overall, I love the improvements being made. They are a testament to Temple's commitment to higher education. Temple has opened up many doors of opportunity for myself and I will be in debt to the University for the rest of my life. (and Im not talking about the student loans I'll have to pay back). Thanks again!

Andrew, the cafe is just one part of a larger resource picture for our students. In the spring you will walk right through an opening that is currently closed off into Alter Hall where there are TWO areas on the 1st floor to relax, rest your back, and study ... one in the Atrium, the other into the speactacular Undergrauate Student Lounge. I think you're gonna like it.

Chairs with no backrests make it difficult to do work... and my back hurts. The goal appears to have been a swanky, not practical, one. However, it really doesn't matter, because Temple is the greatest university on the planet...GO OWLS!!!

Amy,

I wish I could convince you that the new cafe is as great as I think it is, but you are the arbiter of your own taste and comfort level. I hope you grow to like it in time. BTW, there is actually MORE seating now than there was before. We are always open to any suggestions you have for improvement.

It feels so cold... not as cozy as the old, smaller cafe which had a lot more seating and wasn't all steel.
