Men Behind the Construction

voyeurs_sm.JPG Did you ever wonder who orchestrates the steel, stone, and concrete ballet that is the Alter Hall construction project? Last week some of the head honchos peeked into my Speakman office window from the under-construction-atrium. Left to right: Jim Spangler, Lindstrom project manager (steel), and the Driscoll Team; Rich Lipinski, assistant manager, Al Bendig, senior project manager, and Steve Ciallella, superintendent.

third-fl-atrium-curve_sm.JPGUse you imagination: to the right is a view from the Speakman 3rd floor southeast window that will become an entrance to Alter Hall from the 3rd floor. You can see the atrium curve and walkway to the right.

Here’s to the men setting the steel; they’ve got nerves of steel and seem fearless!

Monday was very exciting on the third floor of Speakman Hall; the steel continues to rise, almost magically, and we’re on the same level as many of the workmen setting the steel. I can look out MARCO Malandro or RALPH Greenberg’s Window and see the steel plates inches away. It’s very powerful to see the new building rise in front of our eyes.

Thanks for the blog and photos which help keep us all up to speed.

Thanks, Mary. This is something I obviously enjoy doing. You are right the men of steel are pretty spectacular. The speed with which the second and third floors are rising is breathtaking. Wait until you see steel for the next three floors next week! At the rate things are going, topping off will happen before the end of October!
