End of Week Quiz
( Permalink )Well, with yesterday’s rainout I need to resort to some non-action shot for interest. Here is something new on-site.Â
What are those yellow things on the flat bed, and how will they be used?
A crystal candy dish with Fox logo for the best answer.
Congratulations to Mark Kostic a Fox student who correctly answered last week’s question. Those  yellow things are pre-fabricated forms that will be used to build foundation walls for Alter Hall.

Is it some form of cladding? Perhaps used to support the wall or core structure that will be built.

Close. Can you be more specific?

I believe it’s used as a form of bracing for the core. As they pour concrete these are used to support the steel rods.
I may be wrong. But looking at other construction it seems they are used for some form of support.

Well Mark, you are close enough to win … especially since yours was the only response
You referred to the yellow units as being used as “bracing for the core” as “support for the steel rods” in pouring concrete. They are actually THE structures used to form the concrete foundation walls, but why quibble … you are close enough. Thanks for answering the qustion of the week. A crystal candy dish is on its way to your office.

Mark,
My apologies. I sent the gift to mark Kostic the Temple employee. No wonder he couldn’t figure out what he’s done to earn the prize! Stop by my office in SP 111 and I have another gift for you … Kostic the student

I work for the company, and do not want my name in here. These are omah panels. They are one of the best panels that can be used to hold the concrete in to make the walls, In the old days they would have used wood. these are braced, and clamped, so that they do not blow out as much

Sam, Sorry I missed your comments. I have a question about the black side of the panels. I see workers spraying that side with some type of solution. Is that oil aid quick release? And what is the black side anyway, metal or some other material? Thanks for contributing.
