Monday, December 18th, 2006Can I get any closer?
This is the view from right outside my Speakman office window looking south. The machinery got so close I could reach out my open window and touch the business end of this oversized caterpillar.
This is the view the next occupant of this office will have (Tourism and Hospitality) looking directly into the 1st floor Atrium of Alter Hall.

Thursday, December 14th, 2006Check out our live Alter Hall Cam to see how work is progressing on the old Curtis Hall site. Preparations for foundation work and steel installation will take the better part of December, January, and February. Thus far the Speakman loading dock has been demolished and site excavation has begun. The next major activity will be shoring the sides to prevent collapse. There have been a few hiccups along the way; exams were interrupted by drilling too close to a computer classroom, a temporary network outage ruined an online exam, and a sewer line backup caused a monster mess in the lower level of Speakman Hall. Overall, however, demolition and excavation have been going very smoothly. Kudos to L. F. Driscoll and D’Angelo Bros. Construction.

Sometime between 4:00-5:00 PM Thursday, the old loading dock will be closed to move the door frame to its new location. The new ramp will fully functional Friday, December 9, 2006.
