Bridging to the Future

Alter Hall at night time

It's not often you can point to an exact turning point in the history of an institution. Alter Hall is the exception to that rule.

The modern, 21st-century facility you see today is so much more than a shell containing classrooms and offices. Alter Hall is a bridge to the future for thousands of current students and the many more who will follow.

Everything about this transformational building — from the lighting and woodwork to the technology and classroom layout — was designed with a purpose and represents the vision of many people who worked tirelessly to make it a reality.

Years before the first shovelful of dirt was turned or steel girder lowered into place, the leaders of the Fox School drew up a “wish list” for the new building. While most of the list focused on functionality issues, some of the phrases they used gave an early hint as to the kind of facility Alter Hall would be.

Make people say, “Wow!” Make a statement. Make it iconic. Make it dramatic.

The thinking behind those ambitious phrases was simple — if a business building is a proxy for quality, then it needs to begin by making a statement with a design that is distinctive, creative and bold.

Alter Hall accomplishes all of this.

Far more than simply four walls and a roof, this new building dramatically launches the Fox School into the future. For the first time, the school has a home that matches its growing national and international reputation. It is the final piece of a grand puzzle that already includes world-class faculty, cutting-edge research, prestigious rankings, the latest technology and bright, ambitious students.

Welcome to the future of the Fox School of Business. Welcome to Alter Hall.
